Celebrate good times

I don't find much time for crafting at the moment. Returning from our adventures in Dubai meant... you guess it... tons of pictures to go through! I enjoy working with pictures. It's time-consuming, but as we all know, better do it now than never.

Anyway, I squeezed in an hour of cardmaking during those busy days. As it happens from time to time, I started with zero inspiration but chose a two materials that I wanted to use: a short turquoise ribbon and Nellie's Multi Frame Die Set - Flower. I wrapped a tiny piece of ribbon around a longer one, fixed it with double sided tape in the back and attached it to a square piece of white Bazzill cardstock. Next, I cut the smallest flower from the die set in two different colours and added a flower made with my craft punch. I glued these onto small squares of paper and raised one flower and the LOTV sentiment with foam tape.

It's a pretty design that would work well for Christmas cards with die cut poinsettias or snowflakes instead of flowers. Ribbons always go with Christmas, too! You could also stick different small sized images on the squares and make it a card for any occasion.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you found some inspiration in my crafty space.

How many flowers can you possibly squeeze on A6 format? The answer is: loads!

I'm back with the same flower design, this time on a rectangular card and in different colour combos. I started with pink again because it's such a pretty colour. Then I looked whatever Bazzill scraps I had left over and always picked two shades of the same colour. I also used 3D foam pads to raise a few flowers and one butterfly and finished them with white half pearls. I just can't do without my pearls!

I think these would make lovely wedding invitations, too. The design is based on our own wedding invitations which I made last year.

Pick your favourite!

Next time, I'll share with you a simple design that can be adopted for several occasions.

The travel bug... and a simple card

I'm back after a little break in the Middle East. It was a much needed break, but it's always good to come home. There is so much to discover in Dubai if you stay clear of the shopping centers. We did a lot of walking through the old parts of town, Bur Dubai and Deira, visited the spice/gold/perfume souqs and the hidden Hindi Lane. We checked out the beach, had a traditional breakfast with the locals, enjoyed the views from the Sheraton's 43th floor and booked a dromedary ride in the desert.

I dug out my craft stash again yesterday. Just took a leaf craft punch and wanted to see what I could do with it. I like using the same materials in different ways, so here is another card made with Sizzix Tattered Flowers. Just add the leaves, half pearls, a strip of embossed paper and put a sentiment on top. I used 3D foam pads on some of the flowers. The butterflies were stamped on pergamano paper. The border was made with Sizzix Thinlits Die Set - Borders.

Hope you like my little piece of art. I'm making a couple of cards like this in different colours which I will share with you next time.

Happy travelling & crafting!
Nic
