+++ News from Urban Moose +++

A while ago, I looked up instructions on how to make an exploding box. I had been wanting to make one for a special birthday instead of a card. My idea was to fill the box with a bunch of handmade paper flowers which is time-consuming if you don't have dies and the right colours of cardstock or double-sided papers! So instead I paper pieced roses with the free stamp set from Clearly Besotted that came with Simply Cards & Papercraft issue 133.

I stamped the roses and stems on paper scraps, then fussy cut and glued them onto acetate strips. The stamp set comes with a small and big butterfly of which the bigger one was too heavy to be held firmly in place by the acetate. Simply score a small section at the bottom of each strip and attach double-sided tape to put in place.

Et voilà...

Each of the squares measures 4"x4". The top section of the lid is slightly bigger than 4" to make sure it fits. As I used a standard 6x6 paper pad, I found it difficult to decorate the outside of the box with matching papers (given that there are only three papers with the same design in this pad), but I found some that looked similar.

I'll make more of these and I have already got some Easter designs in mind!
