Papercraft Essentials Issue 118 - Iris Folding

+++ News from Urban Moose +++

The April issue of Papercraft Essentials is out today, incl. simply beautiful Quick Makes from designer Liz McGuire using new Penny Black stamps (love her designs!), an elegant box frame made by Papercrafter of the Year Fiona Wilkes, some pretty amazing readers' cards (the Readers' Letters pages are my favourite) and my Kaisercraft Quick Makes!

Here are my designs from the previous issue. I was happy when editor Lee asked me to show readers the iris folding technique. It's one of my favourite techniques and it comes in handy when a lack of inspiration hits you, as all you need are some strips of coloured paper and you achieve the most amazing results. No need to add embellishments as the main focus is on the paper folding.

I gave iris folding a modern spin by combining it with other techniques:

... Paper piecing
... Making a star embellishment with dies
... Using a digi stamp and craft punch
... Framing the iris folding in an embossed easel
... And just an easy-peasy iris folding card

Give it a try, it's much easier than it looks like! You can also check out a few designs that I posted here.
