The Cardmakers' Collection - Sea Breeze Shakers

We returned from our long trip to Belgium and Germany last week. Little one received lots of presents we had troubles getting everything into the car. On our drive back home, I was squished between the car door and the baby seat. Some gifts were handmade and I have a picture of them somewhere which I'll post another time.

I haven't done any crafting for myself lately so here are some designs made for The Cardmakers' Collection using the Sea Breeze kit from Couture Creations. Unfortunately, it has sold out on but you might still find it at Asda, Tesco, WHSmith, Sainsburys and independent stores.

Thanks for stopping by!

Papercraft Essentials 130 - Marianne Design

I'm taking a little break from crafting for a family visit to Belgium & Germany. It will be quite an adventure for little Ellie, travelling through four countries on her first journey at almost 5 weeks old! I wish these were different circumstances but things need to be taken care of following my mum's tragic accident. On a positive note, everyone is excited about meeting little one!

Here are my designs from last month's Papercraft Essentials using some new products from Marianne Design including dies, embossing folder and découpage sheets with these cute characters called Daisy & Don and Snoesjes:

A simple Flower Girl card:

I like using frames in my designs and WPlus9 Design Studio's Sunshine Layers is one of my favourite dies to make this scalloped frame:

Had the idea to use the embossing folder on acetate and fill it with hearts using the heart border cutting die that came with the material:

Using the same embossing folder on this card:

The circle stepper die from Tattered Lace was in my CMOTY prizes, so I made this card with it:

Here is a sweet design which I thought would be perfect for Valentine's Day although it was a birthday theme for the magazine:

Last but not least I made this card combining a butterfly border die from Marianne Design and another cutting die from the CMOTY package:

Hope you like them and see you back after my break!

Papercraft Essentials 131

A little while ago, I was asked by Lee from Practical Publishing to make shaker cards featuring a nautical theme. She didn't need to ask twice as I love shakers! I made five designs which are all very different. You will find them on this blog next month.

They will be featured in the Cardmaker's Collection which goes on sale 17 March. It comes with a free craft kit from Couture Creation's new collection called "Sea Breeze". The kit includes cutting dies, embossing folder, stamp set, sequins, papers and toppers.

A preview of what's to come can be found in this month's Papercraft Essentials issue 131. This month, I love Marie Jones décor wreaths and cards. I can't imagine how much time must have gone into making them and the results are stunning. You will also find some stylish cards made by Fiona Wilkes using the free embossing folder and stamps. Vicky Welsby's metallic designs are also worth checking out.

Hope you'll find plenty of inspiration in this month's issue!

Hanging Hearts

It's Mother's Day tomorrow and our little one will be four weeks old. It's been a roller coaster of emotions for us. It started with hospital and midwife visits which didn't seem to end. My recovery took longer than I had anticipated. Luckily, my in-laws and a family friend visited us two weeks ago for which I will be forever grateful. They taught us everything we need to know as new parents.

I haven't been crafting for myself lately but managed to squeeze in a few commissions for Becky and Lee from Papercraft Essentials. Before Ellie was born, I started making cards to say Thank You for the baby gifts we would receive. I only finished three of them. Not sure if I'll continue with the same design or come up with something different.

To make the hearts, I dabbled distress inks on a clear sheet, then pressed white cardstock onto it, spritzed it with water and dried it with the heat gun. I like using hearts in my designs and stamped some sentiments from a Stampin Up! set onto them. The "Thanks" sentiment is also from Stampin Up! The hearts are attached to an acetate window which I embossed with hearts.

Happy Mother's Day!
