Almost four years ago, Kurt and I decided to buy a property and we started looking around the villages. We loved Princes Risborough and still do, but fell in love with a 3 bedroom house in Stoke Mandeville. We moved at the end of November and only a few days later I started talking to Steve across the road who was putting up the Christmas lights. He still climbs up the ladder every year to put up the lights and the reindeer and it's such a pretty sight. We're also close to our neighbours next door, Julie & Stephen, a young couple who got married around the same time as we did. I really couldn't imagine a life without them anymore.

It was Julie's birthday yesterday and I still hadn't made a birthday card. I sat down in the morning thinking of something special to make that wouldn't take all day. So I'm back to iris folding with basic die-cut shapes.

It's simple and pretty and you could use this design for many occasions. Once you master the technique, this card takes less than 30 mins to make. Still a special card and one you can't buy in the shops.

I made two more cards with different papers which I'll share with you soon. If you'd like to give iris folding a try, you can download the triangle folding pattern here.

As the layers of paper strips make the white square very chunky, mount it onto foam pads before attaching it to the card front.

Hope you like it!
